General: Alexander the Great requires no introduction. One of the most influential people of all time, his legacy has helped shape the world we live in today. The coins of Alexander the Great continued to be issued in his honour long after his short but fully-lived life. They depict Alexander as Hercules, complete with nemean lionskin headdress on the obverse. On the reverse, the inscription reads ALEXANDROU, which means "of Alexander". There are many different varieties and common to find variants which are unpublished. Coins of Alexander the Great from the Temnos mint are well known for their extra large flans.
