An exclusive offering. A large dealer's lot of unattributed silver Indo-Greek tetrarachms. Coins as pictured in photo. Price works out to be less than AUD 55 per coin which is a bargain. Ancient Coin Traders acquired these from a wholesale source in 2006 and never got around to individually attributing them. Lot will be made available until we find the time to attribute and list for individual sale.
Dealer's Lot of 15 Coins of the Kushan Empire

This lot contains mostly coins from the Kushan empire but may also include Indo-Scythian and Baktrian coins. Coins will be available as a lot until we find the time to individually catalogue and list them for sale. The Kushan empire was formed by Yuezhi, in the Bactrian territories in the early 1st century. It stretched to encompass the entire northern subcontinent of India and includes what is today Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Kushans used the Baktrian language, employing the use of Greek script to write Baktrian, as evidenced in their coinage. Kanishka I or Kanishka the Great, was a Kushan emperor well known for his vast empire and military achievements.

An exclusive offering. A large dealer's lot of silver Indo-Greek coins. Most are from the reign of Menander I the Great. The quality is is incredible. Each coin is suitable for individual sale and capable of being attributed with most details visible. Coins as pictured in photo. Price works out to be less than AUD 70 per coin which is a bargain. Individually these coins regularly sell for US 120-300 (or greater) depending on condition. I bought these from a wholesale source over a decade ago and never got around to individually attributing them. I will list them here for sale for now, but might change my mind, attribute them and add them to my collection.
Dealer's Lot of 6 Antoninianii of Probus, 276-282 AD

Probus was a military Emperor. On reaching adulthood he joined the military where he proved himself capable, enough so that he was later appointed governor of the East by the emperor Tacitus. When Tacitus died, Probus was proclaimed emperor by his soldiers. During his reign, he was successful in his campaigns in Gaul and in strengthening the Rhine and Danube frontier against the Germanic tribes.

Gaius Valerius Galerius Maximinus Daia Augustus, known as Maximinus II or Maximinus Daia, was Roman Emperor from 308 to 313 AD. Although a nephew to Galerius he was born a peasant but rose to prominence after joining the army. He became Caesar when his uncle adopted him shortly after becoming the eastern Augustus. Known for his persecutions of Christians, his reign came to an end after he was defeated by Licinus in the Civil wars of the Tetrarchy.
SOLD: Dealer's Lot of 22 Macedonian Bronze coins of Philip II and Alexander the Great

This lot of coins includes 22 'horserider' bronzes of Philip II of Macedon and a few in the type of Alexander III the Great, with Herakles on the obverse and bowcase and club on the reverse. Philip II of Macedon was King of Macedon and father of Alexander the Great and Philip III Arrhidaeus. The bronze series of this type is extensive and differentiated principally by the different symbols and letters which appear on the reverse and occasionally on the obverse. These symbols and letters, known as control marks, were used to identify the officials responsible for a particular issue of coinage.
